Every few years a new batch of marketing strategies and techniques emerge that have a significant effect on the bottom line of the enterprises that employ them. Over the next five weeks I’m going to share with you some of these marketing game changers. My hope is that the case studies and examples to follow will challenge, surprise, and inspire you to think differently about your organization.
Great marketing ideas aren’t stumbled upon, the effectiveness of these marketing efforts comes as a result of creative thinking, remarkable timing, water shed consumer movements, the alignment of key personnel – you name it. Leaving nothing to chance I will be using The Five P’s of Marketing as a framework so that we can more easily evaluate and understand these revolutionary marketing ideas:
- Product. These strategies revolve around your core product or service offerings. The decisions at this stage are all about changing, consolidating, adding or adopting innovation to bring more value.
- People. The market(s) you choose to focus on have significant consequences to the success of any enterprise. Deciding how and when to make changes, and evaluating which audience will yield the strongest results, will bring a lot of clarity to your future marketing decisions.
- Price. It all comes down to the pricing structure and position of your company. Knowing which opportunities exist in the market and how to price in order to get the results we’re looking for.
- Place. This is the sales and distribution strategy of an organization. It’s arguably the most significant area that can drive results for any business regardless of the market.
- Promotion. Ensuring your target audience knows that you exist and that they understand your value proposition is key. Beyond that it comes down to making changes to reflect a more favourable position or knowing what approach to take with your next campaign.
My goal is to articulate the how and why of making necessary changes (if that’s needed). So there you have it, a little teaser about what’s coming up next Tuesday.
